Dr. Stephen Watts

Veterinarian

Having grown up with a variety of pets, Dr. Watts knew from an early age that he wanted to work with animals. After obtaining his D.V.M. in 1988, he went on to complete his M.Sc. (Hons.) in Clinical Medicine and Surgery. He successfully ran his own small animal practice for a number of years before coming to Canada where he obtained his Certificate of Qualification in 2006 (Canadian Veterinary Medical Association). Since then, Dr. Watts has worked at several veterinary clinics in Toronto, Peterborough and Oakville before opening Highland Creek Animal Clinic in Scarborough in 2011.

Dr. Watts’ interests include dentistry, surgery, cardiology, internal medicine and pain management. He actively pursues continuing education opportunities in order to keep up to date with his treatment protocols. He is a member of The College of Veterinarians of Ontario, Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.

Over the years his animal family has included dogs, cats, budgies, finches, hawks, falcons and tropical fish. In 2000 he fulfilled his dream of working with falcons and eagles when he completed a two-month Externship at the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota.

Amelia

Veterinary Assistant

Amelia graduated from the Animal Care Program at Durham College in Summer 2017. After several years working as a receptionist, she at last followed her true passion, working with animals. She enjoys spending time with family, her cat, two dogs, and gecko. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, going to the gym, and watching a good tv series.

Michelle

Veterinary Assistant

Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2011 and worked as a registered veterinary nurse in Ireland for 10 years.

She moved to Canada in the summer of 2021 and worked in an emergency hospital for a few months before joining the Highland Creek team in January 2022.
When she is not working, Michelle enjoys hiking, cooking, photography and exploring the city.
While she had to leave her cat and dog behind with her family in Ireland, she is always on the look out for a new kitty to add to her Canadian household!

Ingrid

Office Manager

Ingrid has an extensive background in office administration. Prior to joining Highland Creek Animal Clinic she worked at a women’s and newcomer’s agency in Toronto. She combines excellent customer service skills with a natural warmth and empathy. Her love for animals began early and some of her happiest memories are of her beloved dogs, Scamp and Cassidy. She enjoys the interaction with cats, dogs and their families at the clinic. In her spare time Ingrid loves to read, cook and spend time with her family.

Karissa

Veterinary Assistant

With her passionate love for animals that started at a young age, Karissa started her veterinary dream with the Highland Creek Animal Clinic team in January 2022. While working as a veterinary assistant, Karissa has been attending St. Lawrence College where she will be graduating from the Veterinary Technologies program in April 2024. With her advanced diploma on the rise, Karissa aspires to use this dual diploma to write her VTNE and CALAS exams to become registered in both small animal practice and laboratory settings. When not at work, Karissa spends her time with her rescue dog Archer and family. In her spare time she enjoys watching hockey, going to the gym, videogames, and exploring different international foods.

Marianne

Veterinary Assistant

Marianne started working with animals as a teenager when she did co-op in a veterinary clinic which sparked her interest in animal care. This led to her completing a Bachelor of Science Degree from Toronto Metropolitan University, where she became passionate about all things biology. She joined the Highland Creek Animal clinic team in 2022 and loves caring for our furry patients.

In her spare time, Marianne likes to read, draw, paint, and being a foodie, is always looking for new places to eat.
